Pieces of Writing

Fragments of Original and Fan Writings

An Update of Sorts + A Lame Short

Uh, wow.  I can’t believe it’s been a year already since I’ve updated this site.  Obviously I have been awful at writing.

However, I’ve signed up for a chapbook writing class at Stanford and will at least have some poetry to show for this year.

I also made a Patreon.  I’m too lazy to add the link now, but if you search “Miyuki Hata” you should find me.

My New Year’s resolution for this year is to post all of my writing over 2014 during the month of January.  To make that happen I’ve been posting quite a bit of fanfiction on my AO3 account.

Anyway, I hope to update spoilers.tangerinetriangle.com this year and to be more active online in general.

Read below for a random fantasy thing I just wrote  It’s very repetitive and is not likely to be continued:

Once when the world was young, it was hard for people to thrive.  The different parts of the earth felt pity for the issues that tormented the people.

Each decided to help by making their own people.  The ancient trees birthed the tree people, the mountains created stone people, the waters pushed water people ashore, and the air would spin people into existence.

These forces and their children were fundamentally no different from the general earth people but were stronger, sturdier, and their marriage into the earth people created a singular heartier people.

Over time, the forces felt it unnecessary to create as many of their people to mingle with the rest.  While before it had been of no notice, the few created from non-human hands stood out.  They took over the lands and brought ruin to many.  The forces lamented the behavior of their children and swore to stop helping.

However, they still worried over the earth people and when couples unable to have children begged for help, they couldn’t help but answer the prayers.

It became a great secret to have a child gifted from the forces, but still it was eventually found out.  The descendents of past forces who still ruled felt threatened by the potential of these with a stronger connection to the forces.  The leaders banded together and bound their ancestors.  Each tricked their ancestors in different ways, but the result was the same.  The life of the trees became a knotted piece of wood.  The waters became a perfect clear crystal.  The air became a ring, and the mountains became a round ordinary looking stone.

Due to its ordinary visage, the stone  was lost over time, but the other artifacts remain locked up by their descendents and act as proof of the right to rule.
